Mélissa Boros stars as the eponymous teenager in this French body horror written and directed by Julia Ducournau. When 13-year-old Alpha returns home one evening with the letter A roughly tattooed on her arm, her mother, a doctor, is terrified. The hospital where she works has recently become overwhelmed with patients infected with a strange new disease which turns them into marble statues. She worries that Alpha, tattooed with an unsterilised needle, could now be infected. As Alpha awaits the results of her blood test, those around her treat her with fear and suspicion and her world begins to unravel. The cast also includes Golshifteh Farahani, Tahar Rahim and Louai El Amrousy.
