Here come the Wanderers, the coolest guys in town!
Tully High students Richie, Joey and Perry have formed a gang in the Bronx called The Wanderers. The year is 1963, but their experiences are universal: falling in love, surviving school, and defending the turf against adversaries like the Fordham Baldies, the Del Bombers, and the Ducky Boys.
Based on the highly acclaimed first novel by Richard Price, The Wanderers is a rich blend of fun and serious, fantasy and farce. Director Philip Kaufman combined young talent like Ken Wahl, Karen Allen, Toni Kalem and Linda Manz with a colorful musical mix of golden oldies to create an exhilarating experience. Like American Graffiti and Saturday Night Fever, this cult classic opens a nostalgic window into times gone by. Beautiful camerawork by the great Michael Chapman....
