David Burton, a young lawyer from Sydney, takes on the defense of a group of Aborigines accused of murder. As he immerses himself in the case, the city is hit by torrential rain and David is plagued by strange dreams. These dreams revolve around mysterious cult stones and a mysterious Aborigine who tells him of ancient doomsday prophecies. The more David learns about the ritual culture of the Aborigines, the more the boundaries between reality and vision become blurred. He discovers a prophecy that says a "final flood" will wipe out white civilization. When he finally encounters the Aborigine from his dreams, David must face the possibility that his visions could actually be predicting the imminent destruction of the world.
