Polite Robert Elliot is a respected economist, but also the ringleader of a small group of spy agents in London who freelances but also serves the large E.J. Farnsworth corporation with dirty intelligence jobs. Elliot and Farnsworth are irritated by the reportage of journalist Jean Robertson, whom they would both prefer to discredit as greedy and corrupt - but who is also in love with Robert. Farnsworth says he has managed to get Elliot nominated for the post of top economic adviser to the president, which would put him in a position of enormous power. But first, Elliot must eliminate the four members of his intelligence team, leaving no one alive to expose his secret criminal activities. As a diabolical mastermind, Robert Elliot hatches a plan to kill all four of his accomplices simultaneously in one night in different parts of London - without even leaving his swanky apartment.
