* Jean Rollin är av många filmälskare betraktad som den främste vampyrskildraren, eftersom hans filmer vågar skildra såväl det våldsamma som det erotiska i vampyrernas natur.
* Filmen kom till under den upproriska atmosfären i Paris -68. Filmens våldsamma, sadistiska och sexuella innehåll ledde till upplopp på biograferna, där man kastade saker både på bioduken och på filmskaparen. Numera hyllas den som ett mästerverk för sin särpräglade stilistik och erotiska laddning.
