In Springfield, Grayton, a former officer of the northern states, has a stranglehold on the ranchers with the support of influential citizens, who he brutally forces to cede their land to him for a ridiculously low price in order to sell it on to the railroad workers for a profit. When Eleanor's father also suffers the same fate, the Texas Ranger Sando Kid, posing as a perfume salesman, intervenes. Little by little, he is able to thwart Grayton's plans, eliminate his men and finally himself.
