In the midst of the Civil War, Lieutenant Frank Hewitt returns to Texas, his home. No sooner is he back than the first feuds break out. A peaceful Indian tribe is senselessly massacred on the orders of an ambitious Northern officer. The Indians swear revenge. Hewitt decides to prepare the defenseless and defenseless farmer's wives of the area for the retaliatory strikes and trains them militarily. At an old mission station, Hewitt teaches the plucky ladies how to use a shooting iron. When the Indians finally attack, Hewitt and his brave female fighters succeed in beating back the Redskins. When Hewitt returns to his military unit, however, he is court-martialed as a deserter. That's when his petticoat ladies get him out of the woods.
