James Robertson buys a painting depicting the burning of witches at the stake, one of whom bears an uncanny resemblance to his wife Chris. Chris, who is gradually taken in by the personality of the witch in the painting she resembles, teams up with two other reincarnated witches to plot James' death, as he turns out to be a descendant of the man responsible for the witches' fate.
Future Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck stars in this horror movie about reborn witches seeking revenge on the man who burned them at the stake, and lo and behold, that man happens to be Selleck himself. You have to assume that the movie was made on a relatively low budget and there isn't much brutality or blood to be seen, even if there are opportunities to show it every now and then. This is perfectly fine, as the movie has more in common with films like "The Omen" than with a usual slasher. The movie thrives on the suspense, the skill of the actors and the fact that it gives the viewer a constant feeling of unease. All in all, it is quite a satisfying movie.
