The Apaches are back on the warpath. From the Mexican mountains, they sneak into Texan territory. Shortly after being thrown out of a small town in the area, gambler Sam Leeds returns to warn the inhabitants about the redskins. But it is too late. A group of Indians attack the town, kill a boy and contaminate the water. Leeds volunteers to search for fresh water with a group of citizens outside the town. For Mayor Madden, who banned Leeds from the town, this is an opportunity to get rid of the gunslinger, because they both love the same woman.
