Woody Allen's first foray in directing sees him take an pre-existing Japanese spy thriller called "International Secret Police: Key of Keys" and dub it with his own hilarious script. The result is both an uproarious slice of cinematic kitsch and a wonderfully funny spy spoof. With its plot about rival spies trying to track down the secret recipe for the world’s greatest egg salad and sending up all manner of spy films from "In Like Flint" to "James Bond", the film is an obvious influence on Mike Myer's "Austin Powers" movies.
Featuring the voice of Allen himself alongside Louise Lasser ("Bananas", "Take the Money and Run" as well as 60's rock group The Lovin' Spoonful playing themselves, "What's Up Tiger Lily?" is a thoroughly unique and unforgettable cinematic experience. A stunning 1960s cult gem that has to be seen to be believed.
