This film by Catherine Breillat's was inspired by her own experiences. In SEX IS COMEDY, she takes a look behind the scenes of a film shoot, with Anne Parillaud in the director's role. Roxanne Mesquida (À ma soeur!), joined by Grégoire Colin and Ashley Wanninger (Romance), make up the rest of the cast. Breillat investigates and attempts to understand what happens on a shoot when scenes involving physical intimacy arise.
How can something as intimate as the sexual act be captured on film? How can psychological and logical reality, along with the “show” aspect of the act, be set aside, so that one is just left with the body? Breillat once again works with Jean-François Lepetit who produced “Romance” and “À ma soeur!”.
