USA 1957, in the small, sleepy village of Hellgate, life goes on as usual until the day when pretty Josie is brutally raped by a gang of rockers. Her desperate father then takes cruel revenge on her tormentors with an axe... More than 30 years later, 1989: Young Matt is on his way to spend a carefree vacation with his friends when he is forced to stop by a slender woman who jumps in front of his car. She introduces herself as 'Josie', gets into his car and asks him to take her to an abandoned mansion. There he soon succumbs to her seductive powers. But the magic of the night quickly evaporates when a horribly disfigured man appears, sending Matt fleeing. Subsequent investigations by Matt's friends then bring a gruesome truth to light: the city is dominated by dark forces and the mysterious hitchhiker is the ghost of Josie, thirsting for revenge...
