Smoke on the water Having evolved in 1968, Deep Purple has become one of the great rock acts of all time. 30 years later, and with 130 million album sales, Deep Purple continues to deliver their brand of sophisticated rock’n’roll. With the musical landscape changing in the late 80’s and early 90’s, the band continued to play to huge audiences around the world. With legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore leaving the band in 1993, this acted as a catalyst for the band to discover uncharted territories. First with guitar guru Joe Satriani as a temporary replacement, and ultimately with Steve Morse, Deep Purple has spent the past 5 years demonstrating the awesome energy and intensity that has earned them their legendary rock superstar status. This concert presentation was recorded early in 1995, when the band took to the road tom showcase some of the tracks that would later make it on to their critically acclaimed 1996 album “Purpendicular”. Amazingly, the cardboard box late in November 1999, and were long thought lost. Apart from some audio abnormalities in the first minute of the show, the tapes provide a rare insight into the extraordinary talents of this truly great rock band. Given the fact that Steve Morse had only performed a handful of gigs, the raw energy and power is extraordinary. With the added twist, this Indian show was to support a local charity. The Indian press gave the band extensive and unparalleled coverage, with many reviews claming it to be the best rock show ever staged in India.
