The prehistoric wilderness. Following a devastating volcanic eruption, the ruthless Mak (Brian O'Shaughnessy) leads the remnants of his dark-haired Rock Tribe on a quest for a new home.
They form a truce with the Fair Tribe, resulting in the birth of twin brothers - the gentle Toomak (Tony Bonner) and the sadistic Rool (Robert John). In later years the brothers fight for the affections of the mute girl (Marcia Fox) adopted by the tribe's mystical old crone (Rosalie Crutchley).
The mute girl is kidnapped by the cheif of a marauding tribe (Fred Swart). Taken to their strange underground domain, she finds a deadly rival in Nala (Julie Ege), the cheif's wild and beautiful daughter...
