Agnès Varda's classic CLEO FROM 5 TO 7 manages to successfully capture Paris at the height of the sixties, in this intriguing tale expertly presented in real time about a singer (played to perfection by Corinne Marchand) whose life is in turmoil as she awaits a test result from a biopsy.
As Cléo readies herself to meet with her doctor at 7 o'clock, she meets several friends and strangers while trying to grapple with mortality. The film is noted for its handling of several of the themes of Existentialism, including discussions of mortality, the idea of despair, and leading a meaningful life.
As well as featuring memorable cameos from director Jean-Luc Godard and actress Anna Karina, it also includes an appearance and an impressive score from Oscar® nominated composer Michel Legrand.
