Freddie Clegg (Terence Stamp) is a pathetic, sexually disturbed nobody trying to fill the aching hole in his life by collecting beautiful things. At first he collects butterflies. Then he sees gorgeous young student Miranda (Samantha Eggar) - and decides to collect her too. Abducting her and locking her in his cellar, Freddie believes Miranda will fall in love with him. Miranda however realises she is the prisoner of a psychopath - and if she dosen't escape, she'll die...
